Kokku seeks talented Lead artists experienced in game development to create content for a prestigious tactical shooter.As a Lead artist, you will be responsible for leading a team and creating various cosmetic elements for characters and weapons released in seasonal passes You are an experienced and skilled professional who can lead a team to guarantee the creation of prime quality assets that can work in a dynamic environment with an open mindset for providing solutions and excellence.Being a part of Kokku means being able to work with commitment to excellence. We strongly believe in pushing boundaries and creating remarkable experiences.Our São Paulo office is located in the Pinheiros area.As a 3D Lead Artist, you will:

  • Access and analyze the client’s product needs, help the project manager and producer estimate the workload, assist in bidding and define project production planning.
  • Work with other disciplines to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines for in-game art.
  • Responsible for the team’s understanding of the project’s work requirements.
  • Work along with the project and art manager to set performance objectives for the project with artists.
  • Supervise and support artist development and performance objectives for the year and support their development.
  • Coordinate the quality control for each deliverable, ensuring that artists respect the QA pipelines, and work closely with Art QA, the project manager, to improve the quality performance of the team.
  • Reliable for the team’s capacity to deliver within the deadlines while reaching the quality bar and productivity goals.
  • Represent the art team in client interactions, conveying feedback and complex subjects in an organized manner.
  • Using the appropriate platform, maintain organized archives of client pipeline information, documents, and feedback. (Confluence, drives).
  • Assist the Art manager in the art department processes (recruitment test evaluation, onboarding, basic training and artists’ performance and development)
  • Actively assist the project manager and Art manager in the project closing process for documenting the team’s learning and action plan.
  • Preach and support maintenance for the use of best practices.
  • Ensure that the means of success are in place to deliver the best product by preparing his team and working closely with the Art Manager, Project Manager and Producer.
  • Raise concerns promptly and propose alternatives or ideas.
  • Solve or participate in solving complex problems in a structured manner, from assessment, research, planning, and organization to execution.
  • Available to work within production, assuming artistic tasks when required.
  • Be an example, inspire and motivate people managers, and guide other artists in best practices, processes, and procedures related to production.
  • Work closely with the project managers with task tracking, securing deliveries and respecting deadlines.
  • Keep informed about industry and trade technologies trends, guide and advise his team.
  • Collaborate with Production Managers, Project Owners, Art Managers and Producers

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a 3D modeller in video games.
  • 2+ in leading teams in production.
  • Have a solid understanding of art production pipelines in video game development and its dependencies.
  • Solid Skills and experience in importing and setting 3D models and materials in-game engines.
  • Portfolio of work (or credited work) that shows excellence.

Expertise profile

  • 3D Objects Artist (hard surface)
  • Experience with military-style
  • Experience with weapon creation (specifically guns and accessories)
  • Experience in texture creation.
  • Understanding of requirements related to creating realistic in-game weapons and equipment;
  • Confident SubD modeling in Max / Maya;
  • Experience sculpting the hard surface assets in Zbrush;
  • Solid skill in creating low-poly models and retopology, understanding of the principles of modular systems, and the ability to optimally distribute polygons on the asset;
  • An ability to develop optimal UV mapping respecting technical restriction
  • Experience in texturing in Substance Painter;
  • Have skills in importing and setting 3D models and materials in-game engines1.
  • An ability to follow and correctly interpret/improve the concept idea;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, proactiveness, and desire to learn, teach, and mentor;
  • Intermediate level of English, in reading and speaking.
