As the Alumar Technical Services Director, you will be a critical support for the Head of Alumar, Refinery, Smelter and Logistics Operations Directors, by leading key technical services for Alumar complex (Smelter, Refinery and Port). A key for this role will be to amalgamate multiple Alcoa stakeholders in targeting best practice initiatives, projects, transformational, governance process and KPI’s for our framework which will result in Alumar enhanced reliability and operations stability.Other key responsibilities include:
- Provides strategic guidance and direction to drive team results to a cross functional team which provides expertise in management and delivery of technical services.
- Formulate a comprehensive technical program management plan that aligns with the overall Alumar business objectives, budgetary considerations, and production requirements. Ensure key milestones and outcomes are turned into action plans for execution by technical teams.
- Develop and implement Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with Operations Teams to help drive collaboration, ownership and sense of urgency; Monitor and continuously improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that all technical services delivered comply with relevant regulations, Alcoa and Industry standards, and security protocols.
- Drive leading practice improvement of current value chain processes; facilitate identification and scoping of high value initiatives to engineer productivity and process improvement; coordinate with the COE’s and Operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships and engage with stakeholders across a variety of functional areas whose teams are present in the region and globally, providing compelling metrics, reporting and insight in support of Alumar profitable growth.
- Implement and refine best practices, automated tools, and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and agility of technical services delivered.
What you can bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field;
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills – Bilingual (Portuguese/English);
- Extensive experience in a mining/manufacturing/heavy industry is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in governance models, and strategy delivery is essential.
- Substantial experience in governance and compliance management plan development
- Demonstrated ability to navigate, influence and collaborate across functions regionally, externally and globally, and at all levels of the organization.
- Availability to live in São Luis, Maranhão.
